Join Egyptologist, former resident of Egypt and beloved Denver Church member, Jonna Castle, along with Rev. Jim Chandler and Rev. Mary Jo Honiotes, for a wonderful, illuminating and powerful trip to Egypt. Our historic and spiritual guides will lead 16 others on a luxury cruise down the Nile, where they will explore ancient temples, enter the Great Pyramid, visit King Tut’s resting place and much, much more. The trip will wrap up in the village of Luxor, where we will truly experience the heart of the Egyptian people. We’ll observe and participate in Egyptian daily life and choose among many activities of the area. Tentatively scheduled for February 1st through February 14th, 2009 (dates are approximate and will be confirmed), the trip cost will be approximately $3,000, with a $200 non-refundable deposit required by June 30, 2008. Meetings will take place after the Sunday services on February 17th and February 24th to discuss the details of the trip, and will include a brief, engaging slide show presentation. Please contact Rev. Jim or Rev. Mary Jo at the church office (303-832-5206) with any questions.

Highlights of Trip to Egypt
We will cruise down the Nile for three days in a luxury ship, visiting ancient temples along the way. We’ll travel 400 miles on the first class sleeper train, and later in a small motor boat as we visit a temple on its own lake island, we’ll go inside the great pyramid, visit King Tut in his resting place, and that’s only the beginning. Mystical, magical, spiritual, and historic Egypt is often called the Biblical land and it is a place of spiritual abundance. We will explore the ancient religion that “made” Egypt, while learning about Egypt’s Sunni Islam of today. It’s two weeks of new experiences! But most important of all, I want you to really “experience” Egypt. You can see much of Egypt’s greatness from the train, bus or boat, but you cannot know Egypt until you know her people. This, my friends, is the Egypt of My Heart. Please let me share it with you. After visiting many of Egypt’s major antiquities, we will depart from our luxury Nile cruise ship, and we will actually have the opportunity to mix and mingle with local Egyptians. We will spend a few days in a village, use local transportation (which may be a donkey) and visit more antiquities and monuments than any other trip offers. We’ll also “let our hair down” and have some fun. From our small family run hotel, we can watch the villagers go about their daily routine. During this time, we’ll operate quite independently and have wonderful stories to remember and share about our experiences. We will embrace Egypt with open hearts and spirits. Space will be created frequently during our trip for insights and reflections. Exchanging ideas about our perceptions will enhance our understanding. We are keeping our group small – we’re happy to create a travel group of 16 (with trip leaders, the group totals 22.) Very sincerely,
